Arthur Erdman is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota and the Founding Director of the Earl E. Bakken Medical Devices Center. His work focuses on biomedical engineering, medical device design, and mechanical design, bridging academic research with industry collaborations.
Dr. Erdman specializes in bioengineering, health science and technology, and product design. He has led groundbreaking projects, such as the development of the LINCAGES mechanism software design package, and collaborated with faculty across Ophthalmology, Neuroscience, Epidemiology, Orthopedics, Surgery, Dentistry, Otolaryngology, and Sport Biomechanics.
His industry partnerships span over 50 companies, including Honeywell, Medtronic, 3M, and Abbott, driving innovation in medical and mechanical design. Current projects emphasize biomedical engineering solutions with global impact.
