Arthur Disegna

Arthur Disegna is a NIHR Blood and Transplant Research Unit Doctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford, focusing on severe head injuries and hemorrhage management in traumatic brain injury (TBI). He is affiliated with Brasenose College and collaborates with the Murphy, Roberts and Stanworth Group (Oxford Clinical Research in Transfusion Medicine) and the Akbar Group (extracellular vesicle research). His work integrates epidemiology, AI-driven neuroimaging, and laboratory science to improve TBI treatment.

Education: MD from the University of Brasília (2019), with research on AI applications in pituitary disorder diagnostics. Post-qualification, he served as an Intensive Care Clinical Fellow during the pandemic before moving to Oxford for his DPhil.

Research & Teaching: Leads the MARVLE-TBI study using AI-enhanced resonance imaging for high-resolution detection of intracerebral bleeding. Teaches Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology to Oxford medical students. Active in translational research, analyzing patient blood samples for novel therapies.

Roles & Awards: Junior Dean at Brasenose College, member of Oxford's Global Leadership Initiative, and recipient of the Senior Hulme Scholar award. Holds grants from the British Journal of Anaesthesia, Brain Research UK, and Oxfordshire Hospitals Charity.

Clinical Practice: Works as a Critical Care physician at the John Radcliffe University Hospital, Oxford.
