Arthur Clech

Arthur Clech is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Université Paris-Lumières (UPL) affiliated with LEGS (CNRS/Paris 8) and serves as a research associate at CERCEC (EHESS-Paris) and Eur'Orbem (Sorbonne). A historian and sociologist specializing in Slavic Studies, his work focuses on Soviet homosexuality and cultural analysis.

His research examines Soviet-era homosexual subjectivities, particularly the interplay between solidarity networks and cultures of suspicion during the late Soviet period. He has taught Russian and Soviet studies at the Sorbonne, including translation courses.

Arthur Clech has translated literary and philosophical works by Andreï Platonov and Valeri Podoroga. His publications appear in multiple languages, reinterpreting the history of Soviet LGBTQ+ communities before and after the 1934 sodomy criminalization.
