Aron Walsh

Professor Aron Walsh holds the Chair in Materials Design at Imperial College London, where he leads the Materials Design Group within the Thomas Young Centre. His pioneering research combines materials theory and machine learning for energy applications.

Research focuses on:

• Next-generation photovoltaic materials
• Defect physics in semiconductors
• Materials informatics and AI-driven discovery
• Electronic structure theory
• Energy materials optimization

His group develops computational methods to accelerate materials discovery, with recent breakthroughs in perovskite stability prediction and generative AI for crystal structure exploration. Recent publications examine nanodomain dynamics in perovskites and AI-guided materials discovery frameworks.
