Arno Wonisch, Mag. Dr.phil., is a researcher at the University of Graz, affiliated with the Institute of Slavic Studies and the Institute for Theoretical and Applied Translation Studies. He is an active member of several scholarly bodies, including the Austrian Association of Slavists and the International Committee of Slavists.
His research spans Slavic linguistics from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives, comparative and contrastive studies, word formation, stylistics, and language didactics. He also contributes to Jewish Studies.
In 2024 he received formal recognition from the Branko Ćopić Foundation for his scholarly affirmation of the writer’s life and work.
Dr. Wonisch serves on the executive committee of the Austrian Association of Slavists and acts as co-editor for two book series: Slavic Language Correlations (LIT Verlag, since 2017) and New Slavic Horizons (Dr. Kovač, since 2012).
