Dr Ariella Van Luyn is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of New England's School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. She specializes in historical fiction, biofiction, and community storytelling methodologies.
Holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Queensland University of Technology. Authored the novel Treading Air and published over fifteen short stories in literary journals including Overland and Southerly. Co-edited scholarly books on qualitative research and regional creativity.
Research explores narrative techniques in historical fiction, oral history methodologies, and innovative approaches to online writing pedagogy. Current projects investigate neuroqueer historical fiction and AI's impact on creative processes.
Awards include the Queensland Literary Award for Unpublished Manuscript (2013) and UNE's Vice-Chancellor's Citation for Excellence in Education (2023).
