Associate Professor Sally Breen teaches Creative Writing at Griffith University's School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science. An Australian writer and editor, she authored 'The Casuals' (winner of Harper Collins Varuna Manuscript Award) and 'Atomic City' (shortlisted for QLD Literary Awards). Her fiction explores contemporary Australian life with themes of identity and cultural transformation.
Research focuses on:
- Creative writing practice and pedagogy
- Contemporary Australian fiction
- Literary criticism and review culture
- Narrative structure in mid-life fiction
- Gender representations in literature
Publications include literary criticism in The Conversation, Griffith REVIEW, Overland, and Sydney Review of Books. As Executive Director of Asia Pacific Writers and Translators, she promotes international literary exchange.
