Ariel Procaccia is the Alfred and Rebecca Lin Professor of Computer Science at Harvard University's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). He also holds a visiting researcher position at Meta's FAIR division. His affiliations include the Center for Research on Computation and Society, Harvard Data Science Initiative, Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, Institute for Quantitative Social Science, and the Center of Mathematical Sciences and Applications.
Procaccia earned his PhD (summa cum laude) from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2009, following a B.Sc. (magna cum laude) in Mathematics and Computer Science from the same institution in 2004. Procaccia’s honors include the 2024 SIGecom Mid-Career Award, AAAI Fellowship, and Guggenheim Fellowship. He has pioneered interdisciplinary projects such as Optimized Democracy, a course on mathematical governance frameworks, and Virtual Democracy, an ethical AI decision-making framework.
