Arianne Boileau is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Mount Royal University and Research Director for the Canadian Latin American Archaeology Society. She holds a PhD from the University of Florida.
Her research investigates human-environment dynamics through zooarchaeological and biomolecular analysis, specializing in Maya animal resource use. Current projects examine thousand-year patterns in Central American river turtle exploitation, combining ancient DNA with isotopic studies.
Dr. Boileau has conducted fieldwork across Mesoamerica, analyzing how political economies shaped Indigenous resource strategies. Her methodological innovations include taphonomic experiments and trait database development. Recognized with SSHRC and FRQSC funding, she teaches courses in archaeological methods, ancient foodways, and Maya civilization.
