Dr. Antonis Ballis is a Lecturer in Finance at Aston University's Department of Accounting & Finance, and Programme Director of the MSc FinTech. He holds a PhD in Finance from Athens University of Economics and Business, along with an MSc in Applied Econometrics and BSc in Economics. His research focuses on Financial Technology, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and Behavioral Finance. Dr. Ballis teaches courses on Blockchain and FinTech, and Emerging Topics in FinTech.
His recent work explores climate risk impacts on borrowing, structural shifts in bank credit ratings, and the interplay between monetary policy and corporate carbon emissions. He has published in journals such as Journal of Financial Stability and International Journal of Finance and Economics.
Dr. Ballis supervises PhD students in Digital Financial Services, Mobile Money, Blockchain-Cryptocurrency Interactions, and Behavioral Finance. He is affiliated with the Fraud Research Group at Aston University.
