About
Prof. Antoni Llobet is a leading researcher at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), focusing on molecular redox catalysis for solar fuel generation via artificial photosynthesis. He is also a Full Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) since 2004.
His research spans the development of transition metal complexes for catalytic oxidation of water/ammonia and reduction of CO2/nitrogen to produce renewable fuels. He has supervised numerous PhD, Master’s, and visiting students, many of whom have advanced to academic or industrial positions. The group emphasizes collaboration, cultural exchange, and innovative methodologies.
Recent publications highlight hybrid molecular materials for CO2 electroreduction, supramolecular catalyst anchoring, and photoelectrochemical systems. Awards include the 2023 Sigma-Aldrich Lecture, 2018 Humboldt Career Award, and 2011 Bruker Prize. His work is funded by the SUNGATE Horizon Europe project and the EnergyCat project, among others.
