Anthony Sullivan

Dr Anthony Sullivan is a Senior Lecturer in Cultural and Historical Studies at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. He coordinates academic provision within the School of Design and Technology and has taught courses on research methods, fashion production, and ethics. His career spans adult education, media studies, and fashion theory.

Dr Sullivan’s research focuses on the intersection of fashion, consumer culture, and socio-political dynamics. His work explores branding, class, gender, and sustainability, with a psycho-social lens on youth consumption. He has developed publications analyzing Marx’s theories in fashion, ethical debates in apparel production, and globalization’s impact on labor practices.

His recent articles examine dystopian narratives in fashion, Marxist critiques of capitalism, and political symbolism in contemporary fashion. Dr Sullivan supervises undergraduate and doctoral projects, including works on modesty in UAE fashion and Islamic identity in Turkish fashion. He previously taught at Waltham Forest College, Goldsmiths, UEL, Middlesex University, and the Open University.
