Anthony Rothschild

Anthony J. Rothschild, MD, is the Irving S. and Betty Brudnick Chair in Psychiatry and Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, with affiliations at the T.H. Chan School of Medicine and Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He specializes in treating complex depressive disorders, particularly psychotic depression, and has contributed extensively to psychopharmacology through research, clinical trials, and editorial roles. His work focuses on understanding the biology, diagnosis, and treatment of mood disorders, with a strong emphasis on translational research and clinical guidelines.

Dr. Rothschild's education includes a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Princeton University and an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

His research interests span psychopharmacology, treatment-resistant depression, and neuropharmacology. Notably, he has authored books on psychotic depression and antipsychotic medications.
