Dr Anthony Powis is a Lecturer in Architecture and Climate at the School of Architecture and Landscape, University of Sheffield. He focuses on architecture's historical, current, and future relationships with climate breakdown, integrating interdisciplinary approaches across spatial practice, knowledge production, and environmental stewardship.

Dr Powis's research explores the interrelation of spatial production, knowledge production, and climate production, with a focus on the boundaries of architectural knowledges, futures of architecture and urban design, and critical responses to the climate crisis. His work incorporates participatory design techniques, more-than-human research methodologies, and drawing as a research method. Key projects include the AHRC/DFG-funded Architecture after Architecture: Spatial Practice in the Face of the Climate Emergency and the collaborative initiative Architecture is Climate.
His publications highlight methodologies for understanding monsoon climates in urban contexts, the relational materiality of groundwater systems, and the role of drawing in representing intangible environmental processes. These works emphasize interdisciplinary integration of architecture with environmental humanities, social sciences, and climate justice frameworks.

Dr Powis supervises thesis students across Undergraduate, MArch, and Postgraduate Taught courses. His professional activities include registration as an architect and membership in Architecture sans Frontieres-UK.
