Anthony Davis is Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Mount Saint Vincent University. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from University of Toronto and joined MSVU in 2010 following nineteen years at St. Francis Xavier University. His research examines socio-economic organization of North Atlantic fisheries, impacts of fisheries management on coastal communities, and relations between culture and social power structures.
Current research emphasizes Native and non-native fish harvesters' local ecological knowledge (LEK), developing methodologies for systematic documentation of LEK in Northeastern Nova Scotian contexts. Davis directs the SSHRC-funded 'Social Research for Sustainable Fisheries' alliance building research capacity among fishing communities.
