Annie Phoenix

Annie Phoenix serves as an Instructor at Loyola University New Orleans and Executive Director of the Jesuit Social Research Institute (JSRI), where she leads the Loyola at Rayburn program supporting incarcerated students and correctional employees pursuing Bachelor of Applied Sciences degrees.

Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Sociology from Tulane University, with professional experience centered on nonprofit sector development including fundraising, sustainable program design, and legislative drafting to address systemic injustice.

Dr. Phoenix's research and teaching critically examine mass incarceration through interdisciplinary lenses of criminology and social justice, emphasizing practical legislative advocacy and policy reform.
