Dr. Anne van Ewijk serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics within the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance at Utrecht University. She joined Utrecht University School of Economics in 2021 as a departmental lecturer and was appointed Assistant Professor in 2024 with a focus on educational design, leadership, and innovation in entrepreneurship education.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona, Spain) in 2011, where she completed a qualitative study comparing diversity policies of two European regional police forces. Prior to academia, she worked as a management consultant for &samhoud and KPMG in Spain and the Netherlands from 2007-2015, advising on organizational change across multiple sectors.
Dr. van Ewijk's research primarily focuses on entrepreneurial intention, inspiration, and motivation in entrepreneurship education. Her work examines how educational interventions impact students' entrepreneurial mindset, particularly addressing gender disparities and psychological factors that influence entrepreneurial self-efficacy. She has conducted significant research in the UAE context, exploring cultural factors affecting entrepreneurship among women and Muslim employees.
Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory from her early work on police diversity toward entrepreneurship education research, with an increasing focus on practical applications of educational design. The publications reveal her methodological expertise in both qualitative and mixed-method approaches, often combining theoretical frameworks with practical educational interventions.
