Anne Winter is a Professor of History at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), affiliated with the Social History of Capitalism research team (SHOC) and the Brussels Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Migration and Minorities (BIRMM). She holds a MA from VUB (2001), MSc from LSE (2002), and PhD from VUB (2007). Her research focuses on the social and economic history of the Low Countries, emphasizing migration, urbanization, and labor relations in comparative perspective. She has held prestigious roles such as Francqui Research Professor (2012–2015) and visiting scholarships at institutions like UCLA and Oxford.
