Dr. Anne Neveu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Kean University's College of Health Professions and Human Services. She holds dual Ph.D.s in Communication Sciences & Disorders (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and Translation Studies (Kent State University), with postdoctoral training in Psychiatry at UC San Diego.
Her research focuses on the intersection of language and cognition in bilingual individuals, particularly aging bilinguals with Alzheimer’s Disease, children in dual-language immersion programs, and translation expertise effects on language processing. Key research questions explore bilingual language decline mechanisms, proficiency measurement, and cognitive impacts of multilingualism.
Dr. Neveu’s lab emphasizes translational research to improve communication outcomes for bilingual populations. She teaches courses in linguistics, phonetics, and research methods in Speech-Language Pathology. Her work bridges clinical, cognitive, and educational aspects of language science.
Publications span journals like Developmental Science, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, and Neuropsychologia. Current projects investigate bilingual naming patterns in neurodegenerative disorders and the role of immersion experience in language proficiency.
