Anne M. Johnson is a Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at University College London (UCL), where she chairs the Population and Lifelong Health Domain within the Faculty of Population Health Sciences. She has dedicated over 30 years to research in epidemiology and public health, focusing on HIV, sexually transmitted infections, influenza, and Ebola.
- Co-directed the MRC Centre for Coordinating Epidemiological Studies of HIV and AIDS (1985–1999)
- Principal Investigator for the National Surveys of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles (Natsal 1990, 2000, 2010)
- Founded UCL’s Institute for Global Health
Her work spans epidemiological research, public health policy, and digital infectious disease detection. She has advised national and international organizations, served on the MRC Strategy Board, and chaired the Academy of Medical Sciences Health of the Public 2040 Working Group. Awards include the Alwyn Smith Prize (2017) and a Damehood (DBE, 2013) for contributions to infectious disease research.
