Professor Azra Ghani is a Professor in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College London and holds dual roles as Academic Director of Imperial Global Singapore and Director of the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis. She also serves as a Visiting Professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Her research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology, including work on BSE, vCJD, sexually transmitted infections, SARS, COVID-19, influenza, and malaria. She advises global health initiatives such as CEPI’s Scientific Advisory Committee, the WHO Malaria Policy Advisory Group, and Gavi’s Vaccine Investment Strategy Steering Committee.
Professor Ghani has received prestigious awards, including the Chalmers Medal (2017) and Unilver Colworth Prize (2021), and was appointed MBE in 2021. She teaches epidemiology and modelling courses aimed at public health professionals and policymakers.
