Anne Godfrey

Anne C. Godfrey is Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Her research examines the relationship between photography and landscape architecture through critical theory frameworks, culminating in the Routledge book trilogy: 'Active Landscape Photography' (2020-2023).

She holds an MLA from the University of Oregon and BA from Carleton College, receiving ASLA National Honor Award for graduate research. DesignIntelligence named her among the 30 Most Admired Educators, and she received the Lord & Schryver Award from Oregon ASLA and Upstate NY ASLA Outstanding Academic Practitioner Award.

Teaching integrates speculative design for climate resilience, with student teams winning international competitions for designs like 'Solar Orbs' and 'Cetacea'. Courses include 'Photography, Environment and You' and 'Methods for Photography in Landscape Architecture'. Current graduate advisees explore sustainable design applications in MLA programs.
