Anna Proskurina

Anna Proskurina is an Acting Researcher, Doctoral Student, and Lecturer (In-house) in the Department of Internal Diseases. She leads and contributes to research projects focused on improving kidney replacement therapy in Latvia, including cost-effectiveness and quality frameworks funded by the National Health Service of Latvia (2024–2029).

Her research spans nephrology, gastroenterology, and public health, with emphasis on:

• Kidney replacement therapy (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis)
• Ulcerative colitis and gut microbiome dynamics
• COVID-19 impacts on chronic diseases
• Rare nephropathies (e.g., Fabry disease)

Recent publications analyze Latvian healthcare disparities in renal care, lifestyle factors in ulcerative colitis during the pandemic, and palliative interventions for esophageal tumors. She actively presents findings at conferences, including oral/poster sessions on demographic trends in kidney therapy.
