Dr. Anna Krasnodembskaya is a Reader at Queen's University Belfast's Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine. She leads research on mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapies for respiratory diseases including ARDS and COPD.
Her work investigates MSC mechanisms of action, MSC-derived extracellular vesicles, mitochondrial transfer, and lung-resident MSC roles in repair. She develops innovative models including human lung organoids to study mesenchymal-epithelial interactions.
Krasnodembskaya has received the British Association for Lung Research Young Investigator Award and leads multiple projects funded by UK research councils. She actively mentors PhD students and participates in public science engagement through the NI Science Festival.
Her publications focus on MSC therapeutic applications, extracellular vesicle biology, and novel lung disease models. Recent work explores MSC antimicrobial effects and EV standardization guidelines.
