Prof. Anna Franckowiak is a Professor of Multi-Wavelength Astronomy at Ruhr University Bochum since 2020. She holds a PhD from the University of Bonn (2011) and conducted research at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (Stanford) and DESY Zeuthen, leading a Helmholtz Young Investigator Group. Her research focuses on multi-messenger astronomy, studying extreme cosmic phenomena like exploding stars and supermassive black holes using optical, gamma-ray, and neutrino observations. She was honored as a Henriette Herz Scout in 2021.
- Affiliations: Ruhr University Bochum, Multi-Messenger Astronomy Group
- Education: PhD in Astronomy, University of Bonn (2011)
Her research group explores high-energy cosmic processes through multi-wavelength and multi-messenger methods, emphasizing neutrino-driven studies and developing novel instruments like the first wide-field optical polarimeter. Collaborations can be initiated via Dr. Jörn Benzinger (joern.benzinger@rs.rub.de).
