Anna Fischer

Prof. Dr. Anna Fischer is a Full Professor of Functional Inorganic Materials at the University of Freiburg's Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. She leads research in nanostructured functional materials, electrochemistry, and energy storage systems. Her work focuses on developing sustainable materials for electrocatalysis, batteries, and photoelectrochemical devices. Fischer is a spokesperson for the Cluster of Excellence liv MatS and holds leadership roles in multiple academic and research initiatives, including the Freiburg Materials Research Center and the GDCh Division Chemistry & Energy.

Projects: Fischer's group works on soft autonomous materials, photosupercapacitors, and H₂O₂-driven actuators within the liv MatS cluster. Recent projects include developing high-voltage organic-inorganic photo-batteries and optimizing porous carbon nanospheres for electrode design.

Lab & Teams: The Fischer Group includes ~20 researchers, with active collaborations across materials science, electrochemistry, and energy systems. Ongoing initiatives involve the IDEASfactory@FIT and the Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies (FIT).
