Anna Chiafele

Anna Chiafele is an Associate Professor of Italian in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Auburn University. Her research examines ecocriticism, ecological disasters, and climate change fiction within Italian literature. Chiafele received the 2022 Italian Prose in Translation Award for her co-translation of Silvana La Spina's 'Penelope'.

Her scholarly publications analyze representations of waste, toxicity, and environmental crisis in contemporary Italian fiction. Recent work explores climate fiction narratives and ecological dystopias. Chiafele's research methodology combines environmental humanities with literary analysis to address pressing ecological concerns.

She teaches Italian language and literature courses while maintaining active translation projects. Her academic background includes a PhD from University of Toronto and degrees from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and University of Virginia.
