Daniela Pozzi Pavan

Daniela Pozzi Pavan serves as Associate Professor of Instruction in Italian and Director of the Italian Language Program within Northwestern University's Department of French and Italian, where she coordinates elementary and intensive Italian sequences while designing specialized courses like Business Italian.

Her academic credentials include a Law degree from the University of Milan, a Master’s in International Business Law, a Master’s in French Civil Law, and a 2019 Master’s in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore with a dissertation on 'Beauty and Creativity in an Italian Language and Culture Course'.

Her research focuses on Foreign Language Pedagogy and Second Language Acquisition, emphasizing content-based instruction and curriculum development strategies that boost student engagement and lifelong learning through culturally immersive methods. This work manifests in practical applications like her Business Italian curriculum and film/culture-focused advanced courses.

She actively contributes to institutional initiatives as member of the Undergraduate Language Grant Review Committee and Council on Language Instruction (serving as departmental representative), while co-chairing the Meeting and Orientation Committee that organizes faculty workshops. Her cross-institutional impact includes establishing the Bocconi-Northwestern Exchange Program.
