Centre for Research in Epidemiology and Statistics (CRESS)About
Dr. Anna Chaimani serves as Senior Research Scientist at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm) in Paris, leading the Evidence Synthesis Team within the Research Center in Epidemiology and Statistics (CRESS-U1153). She holds dual leadership roles as co-convenor of both the Cochrane Statistical Methods Group and Comparing Multiple Interventions Methods Group, while contributing to pandemic response through the scientific committee of Cochrane France's COVID-NMA project.
Her research pioneers methodological innovations in evidence synthesis, with three convergent thrusts: developing rigorous ranking frameworks for network meta-analysis, creating specialized techniques for rare-event network meta-analysis, and establishing principled approaches to integrate observational data into intervention networks. These advances directly address critical limitations in comparative effectiveness research where traditional methods fail, particularly in low-event-rate scenarios and data-scarce therapeutic areas.
As an educator, Dr. Chaimani teaches advanced methodology courses in the CER Master program including Network Meta-Analysis (UE6) and Methods in Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis II (UE5), training future evidence synthesis experts. Her leadership in the Evidence Synthesis Team drives methodological rigor across clinical epidemiology, with direct applications in pandemic response through the living systematic reviews of the COVID-NMA project that inform global treatment guidelines.
