Dr Anna Andreou is a Senior Lecturer at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Neuroscience and the Wolfson Sensory, Pain and Regeneration Centre. She leads the Headache Research Laboratory, focusing on the neurobiological mechanisms of primary headaches like migraine and cluster headache, as well as developing novel therapies. Her work spans ion channels, neuropeptides (e.g., CGRP), and neuromodulation techniques. She is a Medical Research Foundation Fellow and an active member of the International Headache Society and British Pain Society.
Her research interests include mechanistic studies of headache pathophysiology and translational research into therapeutic development, with a focus on botulinum toxins and neuromodulation. Key collaborators include Prof Bazbek Davletov and Prof Peter McNaughton. She also leads the Headache Centre-GSTT research portfolio.
Dr Andreou has published extensively on migraine mechanisms, neuromodulation therapies, and anti-CGRP antibodies. Her awards include the Medical Research Foundation Fellowship. Her lab's work bridges basic science and clinical translation, aiming to improve therapies for headache patients.
