Anna Alvarez is a Latinx movement tutor and director with a distinction in MFA: Movement Direction and Teaching from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She currently serves as Movement Tutor (Dance/Social Dance) in the Drama (Acting) department at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She also teaches at LAMDA, ICT, Rose Bruford College, and South East Dance, alongside being an established Tango teacher in the UK, Argentina, Brazil, and México.
Her work bridges dance, theatre, and cultural identity, focusing on empowering performers through movement and embodiment. Key research interests include integrating Latinx diasporic perspectives into movement practices and exploring storytelling through interdisciplinary arts. She has collaborated with prominent companies including Dança Deborah Colker, Vertigo Dance Company, and Vincent Dance Theatre.
Anna founded Anna Álvarez Compañía, a dance-theatre collective that explores narrative through movement, music, and visual arts informed by Latinx heritage. Her creative credits span over a dozen theatre productions as Movement Director/Choreographer, including works at Hampstead Theatre, Arcola, and LAMDA.
