Anita Oberbauer is the Executive Associate Dean and Professor in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CA&ES) at the University of California, Davis. She previously served as Associate Dean for Agricultural Sciences before her promotion. Her academic leadership spans research administration and faculty governance.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Zoology, UC Davis (1980, highest honors)
- Ph.D. in Animal Science, Cornell University
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: Perinatal Biology (Loma Linda University) and Biological Chemistry (UCLA)
Research focuses on two core areas: 1) skeletal biology and its relationship to body composition, and 2) genetic mechanisms underlying health traits in dogs and cattle. Her work bridges basic science with applied animal agriculture and veterinary medicine.
