Prof. Anglos Demetrios is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Crete, and an Associated Researcher at IESL-FORTH. He leads the Applied Spectroscopy Laboratory (since 2001), focusing on photophysics, laser spectroscopy, and analytical instrumentation development. His work includes mobile field-deployable systems for material analysis.
- Education: PhD (1994, Cornell University), MSc (1989, Cornell), BSc (1985, University of Athens).
Research interests span photophysics, photochemistry, and advanced laser techniques like LIBS, LIF, and Raman spectroscopy. His group develops instrumentation for cultural heritage science and environmental applications. He contributed to EU initiatives (E-RIHS, E-RIHS.gr) and managed the Ultraviolet Laser Facility at IESL-FORTH (2001–2016).
He has led 6 major research projects as principal scientist and serves on the editorial board of Heritage Science. His work includes over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 25 invited conference talks.
