Angeles Aller is an Associate Professor in the Department of World Languages & Cultures at Whitworth University since 2004. Her expertise spans Spanish culture, literature, language education, translation studies, and study abroad programs. She holds a Ph.D. from Gonzaga University, an M.A. from Whitworth College, and a B.A. from Eastern Washington University.
Her research focuses on 20th-century Spanish literature, particularly works by Miguel de Unamuno, exploring themes like existential doubt, identity formation, and maternal symbolism. She also investigates pedagogical methods integrating Ignatian spirituality into language curriculum design.
Dr. Aller has presented at major conferences including the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association and the International Congress on Hispanic Literature. Her publications address topics such as intercultural competence in education and the intersection of faith with language learning. She is certified as a Spanish language examiner by Instituto Cervantes and holds state-level translation/interpretation credentials.
