Angele Alook is Associate Professor in the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies at York University. A member of Bigstone Cree Nation, her research examines Indigenous experiences in Alberta's oil industry through intersectional frameworks.
Her work investigates gendered impacts on working families, traditional land rights, and climate justice transitions. She co-leads SSHRC-funded projects including the Corporate Mapping Project and Just Powers initiative, producing documentary films on Indigenous land relationships.
Alook's scholarship advances decolonial methodologies while addressing labor equity and environmental policy. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from York University and will be on sabbatical during 2024-25.
