Angela Spencer

Angela Spencer is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Augusta University's College of Science and Mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2004) and a B.S. in Chemistry from Augusta State University (1999).

Her research focuses on bioluminescent proteins, Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer (BRET), and G protein coupled receptors, alongside scholarship of teaching and learning initiatives in chemistry education. Her recent publications highlight work in mitochondrial biochemistry and educational curriculum redesign.

She has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2019 Outstanding Teaching Award from both Augusta University and the College of Science and Mathematics, as well as a 2017 Favorite Faculty Nomination. Her service includes leadership roles in curriculum development and faculty committees across the university, college, and departmental levels.
