Angela Ho is Associate Professor of Art History at George Mason University, specializing in European art of the 15th-17th centuries. She holds degrees from the University of Sydney (BA), Williams College (MA), and University of Michigan (PhD).
Ho's research explores cultural consumption, social negotiation, and evolving concepts of originality in early modern art markets. Her monograph Creating Distinctions in Dutch Genre Painting examines how collectors and artists constructed identities through pictorial repetition and innovation. Current investigations focus on Dutch-Chinese artistic exchanges during global trade expansion.
Ho's scholarship analyzes material culture intersections, investigating objects like Chinese porcelain in Dutch still lifes and representations of colonial trade goods. Her teaching encompasses Renaissance and Baroque art, with courses on Vermeer, art markets, and cross-cultural encounters.
