Angela Hawkins

Angela Hawkins is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University, joining in 2018. She specializes in plant genetics, ecology, and evolution, with a focus on extremophile plants and serpentine tolerance mechanisms.

Her research explores genetic and ecological adaptations in plants under extreme environmental conditions, particularly serpentine soils and parasitic plant interactions. Recent work includes transcriptome studies of extremophiles and genetic analyses of nickel tolerance.

She teaches courses such as Introductory Biology I & II and Genes, Ecology, and Evolution. Her publications highlight plant stress responses, symbiotic relationships with hosts, and evolutionary genomic processes.
