About
Dr. Angela Arenas-Gamboa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Medicine at Texas A&M University's School of Medicine. She holds a DVM from the University of La Salle (2002) and a PhD from Texas A&M University (2007), along with DACVP certification (2010). Her research focuses on developing vaccines against Brucella spp. using microencapsulation to enhance safety and efficacy for both human and animal applications. Key interests include understanding host immune responses and identifying correlates of protective immunity.
Her work spans veterinary pathology, infectious disease research, and biotechnological advancements in vaccine delivery systems. Representative studies include evaluating microencapsulated Brucella vaccines in red deer and mouse models, demonstrating improved efficacy against wild-type challenges. She also explores aerosol transmission and immune responses in Brucella infections.
