Dr Andy Hodder is a Reader in Employment Relations at the Department of Management, Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. He joined the institution in 2012 and currently serves as Head of the Organisation, Work and Employment Group. He held the role of University Director of Postgraduates (PGT) from 2019 to 2021.
His educational background includes a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from the University of Birmingham, a PhD in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, an MRes in Social Science Research Methods, and a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and Human Resource Management, all from Keele University.
Dr Hodder’s research centers on contemporary employment relations, particularly focusing on trade union action and identity, youth engagement with unions, and the impact of new technologies on work. His work bridges theoretical and practical aspects of industrial relations, often involving collaboration with major trade unions such as the TUC, GMB, and PCS.
