About
Andrew Wickert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota, conducting research on ice, water, and landscapes through field observations, instrumentation, and numerical modeling.
His research interests include:
- The last deglaciation: ice sheet melt, proglacial lake development, fluvial geomorphic evolution, rapid sea-level rise, and climate impacts
- Development of inexpensive open-source instrumentation for hydrologic, ecologic, and geomorphic processes
- Open-source GIS algorithms for data processing and model intercomparisons
- Fluvial system response to climate and land-use change
- Lithospheric flexure in glacial-isostatic adjustment and sedimentary basin backstripping
He leads the UMN Earth Surfaces Processes Research Lab and maintains active GitHub repositories for code, course materials, and electronics schematics under @awickert, @umn-earth-surface, and @NorthernWidget.
