Andrew Ross is a Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University's College of Arts & Science. His research focuses on labor and work, urban and suburban studies, intellectual history, social and political theory, ecology and technology, and cultural studies. He is an active member of professional organizations including the American Association of University Professors and American Studies Association.
Dr. Ross holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kent at Canterbury (1984) and an M.A. from Aberdeen University (1978). He has authored or edited more than 25 books and over 300 articles, with research recognized by the Palestine Book Award for his 2019 publication 'Stone Men'.
His scholarly contributions bridge academia and activism, examining how power structures shape labor, urban environments, and cultural production. Current research explores the intersections of debt, carcerality, housing insecurity, and corporate influence on urban development.
