Andrew Lacon is a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. He holds an MA from the Royal College of Art (2011) and a BA Hons from the University of Plymouth (2008). As an artist represented by Division of Labour, his work has been exhibited internationally and is held in public and private collections.
Lacon's research focuses on contemporary art practices, sculpture, and cross-cultural engagement with Latin America. He is currently developing new work informed by residencies at SOMA (Mexico, 2015), URRA (Argentina, 2021), and Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (Uruguay, 2023). Between 2015-2018, he co-founded and directed the project space Recent Activity, producing 5 solo shows, 12 nomadic vitrines, and multiple offsite exhibitions.
He maintains an active studio practice at Grand Union in Birmingham and is a member of the Art and Performance Research Hub. His artistic output includes notable exhibitions, publications, and artefacts like 'Fragment' (Dundee Contemporary Arts, 2018).
