Dr. Andrew Aziz is Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Theory at San Diego State University's School of Music and Dance. He holds a PhD in Music Theory from Eastman School of Music and an MA from the same institution, with undergraduate degrees in Music and Applied Mathematics from Brown University.
His research examines sonata form transformations across classical, romantic, and modern eras, with specialized focus on Beethoven, Debussy, Ravel, and contemporary film music. Recent publications analyze structural innovations in West Side Story and Beethoven's late piano works.
