Andreas Knopp

Andreas Knopp is a Full Professor and Chair of Signal Processing (CSP) at Bundeswehr University Munich, leading the department since October 2014. The CSP operates as a premier research institute specializing in satellite and space communications technology within the university's technical divisions.

Research under Knopp's direction focuses on signal processing, waveform design, signal monitoring, and network integration for contemporary communication satellites and space platforms. Key facilities include the Munich Center for Space Communications, comprising the governmental SatCERTBw test range and the open-access Munich SpaceCom Labs, both equipped with C-, X-, Ku-, and Ka-band satellite ground stations for comprehensive equipment testing and research.

The CSP also maintains a Biomedical Information Technology division (currently led by Dr. Gerhard Staude) that develops non-invasive clinical diagnosis methods through signal processing, collaborating with major hospitals and medical research centers across Germany.
