Andrea Zucco

Andrea Zucco is the International Visiting Professor of Bassoon (Senior Tutor) at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), a role he assumed in September 2022. He previously held the position of Professor of Bassoon at the Scuola di musica di Fiesole in Florence since 2015.

Professionally, Zucco has served as Principal Bassoonist with prestigious ensembles including the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Rome), Bayerisches Staatsorchester, and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He has collaborated with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, and Gustavo Dudamel, performing globally in venues like the Musikverein Wien.

His career spans solo performances at major festivals (e.g., Verdi Festival of Parma) and jury roles in competitions like the ARD Music Competition in Munich (2019). He regularly delivers masterclasses at institutions including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Sibelius Academy.

Zucco’s expertise lies in bassoon performance, orchestral training, and pedagogy, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards in classical woodwind traditions. His current roles at RNCM emphasize bridging professional orchestral experience with academic teaching.
