Dr. Andrea Forster is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, Utrecht University, and a member of the ICS research school. She is affiliated with the Sectorplan Social and Behavioural Sciences under the theme Social Inequality and Diversity.
Research interests:
- Mechanisms of educational inequality
- Returns to education
- School-to-work transition
- Vocational education
- Labor market inequalities over the life-course

Methodological expertise: Quantitative research methods, longitudinal survey data analysis, Dutch population register data, factorial survey experiments, Stata, R, SPSS, LaTeX.
Teaching: Social inequality, sociology of education, applied regression analysis, and supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses.
Academic background: PhD from the University of Amsterdam (2021) on family-level mechanisms of educational inequality in different systems. Postdoctoral researcher at Freie Universität Berlin’s Department of Education (2021–2023) focusing on transitions from higher education to the labor market.
