Andre Chiang is an Assistant Professor of Voice at Emory University, specializing in vocal pedagogy, opera performance, and new American art song. His research focuses on vocology, voice range extension, and inclusive teaching practices. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Louisiana State University and has performed with major opera companies including Portland Opera, Virginia Opera, and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. Chiang is a recognized vocologist (PAVA-RV and National Center for Voice and Speech certified) and has presented at international conferences for NATS, NOA, and CMS. His recent work includes a chapter on vocology in the NCVS-published Sing and Shout for Health and an upcoming article on gender nonconforming singers' vocal experiences. He chairs the NFMC Young Artist Competition and contributes to Classical Singer magazine. Chiang’s performances and recordings include roles in Philip Glass’ Galileo Galilei and world premieres like Behold the Man. His 2024 album Choice Pages features newly commissioned art songs from underrepresented composers.
