Anders Wivel

Anders Wivel is a Professor of International Relations at the Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on small state foreign policy, power politics, and international security with particular emphasis on how smaller countries navigate great power dynamics.

• Currently leads the European International Studies Association's 'Small States in World Politics' section
• Head of University of Copenhagen's contribution to EU-funded CEE Security Hub project
• Active member of Global Research Network on Peaceful Change (GRENPEC)

Wivel's work combines theoretical engagement with neoclassical realism and empirical analyses of specific foreign policy decisions, including Denmark's military engagements in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. His recent publications examine:
