Anders Strand

Anders Strand is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at SPS, OsloMet, and an affiliated researcher at IFIKK, University of Oslo. He serves on the advisory board of the Centre for Philosophy and the Sciences (CPS) and previously led CPS from 2023–2024. Strand’s research focuses on philosophy of science, particularly explanation, causation, and ethical-regulatory aspects of clinical research methods. His work addresses cluster-randomized trials, AI-based medical tools, and group responsibility in scientific contexts. He has contributed to debates on mental causation, nanotechnology ethics, and methodological frameworks in medicine. Strand has held roles as a senior advisor for Norway’s Regional Ethics Committees (REK) during the pandemic and has been involved with CPS since its inception, including postdoctoral and research positions at IFIKK/UiO.
